As Guatemala has lost much of its rainforests, these critical habitats can only be recovered via reforestation. Our reforestation projects consist of manual and natural techniques to grow native keystone species on heavily degraded farmland. We especially focus on four tree species known to provide the main fruits/nuts of the Rainforest — useful to both people and wildlife.
Native fruit and nut-bearing species:
- Ramon (Brosimum alicastrum)
- Chicozapote (Minilkara zapota)
- Guaya (Talisia olivaeformis)
- Ciricote (Cordia Dodecandra)
